World's Thinnest Manual-Wind Dress Watch and Kyoto's Esteemed Artisan Workshop

Evolve the Charm of Tradition Further with Collaborative Models

By Yasuto Shibuya

Founded 255 years ago by watchmaker Jean-Marc Vacheron, Vacheron Constantin, the "world's oldest watchmaking maison," has continued its watchmaking without interruption. Its traditional appeal lies above all in the elegant design and the artistry of its mechanisms, which have captivated royalty and nobility for centuries. This year, too, the maison has unveiled simple watches and limited editions of art watches coveted by collectors, sincerely pursuing the values that define its identity. Among these, the ultra-thin manual-wind and automatic models presented in the "Historique" collection, which revives the maison's historic masterpieces for the modern era, garnered significant attention from the watch industry. In particular, the manual-wind model, based on the fundamental design of a 1955 timepiece, achieves an unprecedented case thickness of just 4.1mm, making it the world's thinnest manual-wind watch today. It is a product that perfectly symbolizes the current trend in men's watch design, shifting from "large, thick, and robust" to "small, thin, and delicate."
