The Elegant Charm of Mechanical Movements

Introducing a full open-worked watch with a modern aesthetic, where the intricate mechanics of timekeeping are a captivating visual spectacle.

Text by SHIBUYA Yasuhito

A New Form of Skeleton Model

This is a full open-worked watch with a modern aesthetic that breaks the convention of skeleton models being purely classic. It houses a movement based on the large manual-winding caliber ETA6497, known for its accuracy and durability, which has been specially open-worked for this model. This movement is commonly referred to as "Unitas."

The design is thoughtfully executed, with elements like the main plate cut into a gear-like shape. As this caliber was originally developed for pocket watches, its components—gears, springs, and so on—are relatively large, allowing the intricate workings of the timekeeping mechanism to be clearly appreciated by the eye. The beautiful pink of the synthetic rubies used for the bearings, intended to reduce friction, adds a touch of elegance to its movement.

The blue steel skeletonized hour and minute hands, along with the small seconds sub-dial (at 9 o'clock), are among the model's captivating details. It can be thoroughly enjoyed as a meticulously crafted mechanical timepiece and as a striking fashion accessory.
