Theme: The Origin of Stars
Citizen boasts world-leading quartz technology. Along with the “The CITIZEN” annual-accuracy quartz watch, the “CAMPANOLA” series, born in 2000 with “the beauty of the sky” as its design motif, can be considered its symbolic product.
The new models for 2013 are themed around “the origin of stars.” While featuring Eco-Drive (light-powered) for maintenance-free operation, they also include a perpetual calendar and a minute repeater.ChronographThe highlight of these models is their dials, crafted using traditional Japanese lacquerware techniques.
Specifically, metal powder is mixed into the substrate components, and then a transparent lacquer is applied, expressing the moment stars are born from cosmic dust and gas. This “modern Japanese” design, unique among Japanese watch brands, is both precious and captivating.
