A Complication Watch That Automatically Displays the Cycles of Months and Leap Years
The Clifton Baumatic Perpetual Calendar model has been newly added to the Clifton Baumatic collection, which was first presented at the 2018 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH).
The newly announced model is equipped with a perpetual calendar module on a new version of the Baumatic movement, the BM13-1975AC1. It offers a 5-day power reserve and requires maintenance approximately every 7 years, compared to the 3-5 years typical for conventional watches.
It is also a complication watch that mechanically displays the cycles of months and leap years, meaning no date correction will be necessary until March 1, 2100, which is not a leap year within the 400-year cycle.
The design features a warm, ceramic-like white dial set with faceted riveted indices and three hands. Three counters display the day of the week at 9 o'clock, the month and leap year cycle at 12 o'clock, and the date at 3 o'clock. Blue steel hands indicate the calendar functions, while the moon phase is displayed at 6 o'clock.
The case is crafted from 18K red gold, and the sapphire crystal case back reveals a circular-patterned bridge and a skeletonized oscillating weight.
The strap is made of comfortable black alligator leather, resulting in an elegant and classic yet modern and highly functional perpetual calendar watch.
