An Innovative Complicated Watch with Four Balances

Roger Dubuis was founded in 1995 by master watchmaker Roger Dubuis and Carlos Dias, a passionate collector of vintage watches. For their 2013 novelties, they unveiled the "Excalibur Quatuor Silicium," a timepiece featuring an entirely new movement that combines four balances. This once again astonished watch industry professionals from around the globe.

Intricate mechanical movements coveted by watch enthusiasts, bold and fearless design, and the inheritance of traditional watchmaking culture symbolized by the Geneva Seal. Roger Dubuis, founded in 1995, has led the luxury watch boom with these seemingly contradictory pillars.

The SIHH (Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix) in 2011 and 2012 marked the company's declaration of collection restructuring and a full-scale brand relaunch. The innovative approach to product creation, which involved constructing four fantasy worlds—"Player," "Warrior," "Adventurer," and "Diva"—and developing collections corresponding to each, was unprecedented in the world of luxury watches and surprised industry professionals worldwide.

And 2013 became the year where the powerful product development capabilities accumulated over recent years were fully demonstrated in the new "Excalibur" collection, the most popular among the four series, embodying the "Warrior" image.

And 2013 became the year where the powerful product development capabilities accumulated over recent years were fully demonstrated in the new "Excalibur" collection, the most popular among the four series, embodying the "Warrior" image.

At the pinnacle of this is the "Excalibur Quatuor Silicium," which captured the attention of watch aficionados. The combination of an entirely new movement incorporating four balances and, for the first time in watchmaking history, a case made of silicium (silicon alloy), is as visually striking as the booth designed around this new model.

Furthermore, for watch enthusiasts, alongside the "Excalibur" collection, the "Hommage" collection has been revived as a former brand icon, featuring minute repeater models and tourbillon models with large date displays, making for an unmissable lineup.

Pursuing Ultimate Timekeeping Accuracy with the "Ensemble" of Four Balances

This highly accurate watch is powered by the ultra-complicated "RD101" movement, composed of 590 parts, incorporating four balances and five differential mechanisms. Developed over seven years, it represents Roger Dubuis' new pinnacle, succeeding the double tourbillon skeleton. The four balances, developed and manufactured in-house, each oscillate at 8 beats per hour (4Hz). Through three differential mechanisms, they synchronize to keep time at an ultra-high beat rate equivalent to 4x8 beats (4x4Hz), achieving superior precision. The remaining two differential mechanisms are integrated within the power reserve indicator at 9 o'clock and the parallel twin barrel system that stores the mainspring's power. The case is made of silicium (silicon alloy), a first in watchmaking history. While extremely lightweight, approximately half that of a titanium case, it offers ample strength and a unique metallic sheen, securely protecting the movement.

Manual winding, silicium case, alligator strap, 48mm case diameter, 30m water resistance, hours and minutes power reserve indicator, new Geneva Seal (pending application), limited to 3 pieces worldwide, 106.26 million yen (estimated price). Release date undecided. A rose gold case model, limited to 88 pieces (estimated price 42.21 million yen / release date undecided), is also available.

Displaying Time with Twelve Heroes Around a Round Table

An art watch inspired by the "Matter of King Arthur," one of the grandest legends and tales of medieval Europe. The dial features a deep, beautiful green and red, achieved through traditional enamelwork known as "Grand Feu," which exhibits a variety of stunning radiance depending on the angle of light. The twelve knights, meticulously sculpted from rose gold, hold their swords towards the center. Through these two artisanal techniques, the world of the legend is recreated on the dial. The design is said to have been influenced by the replica of Arthur's Round Table recreated by King Henry VIII of England (1491-1547) in the Great Hall of Winchester Castle in England. This is undoubtedly a gem for those who cherish this greatest medieval fantasy.

Automatic winding, rose gold case, alligator strap, Grand Feu enamel dial, 45mm case diameter, new Geneva Seal acquired, limited to 28 pieces worldwide, 21.42 million yen (estimated price). Release date undecided. Scheduled for sale at Salon de Roger Dubuis Osaka by oomiya.

A Legendary Collection Revived as an Ultra-Complicated Model Alongside the Founder

The "Hommage" collection, launched with the brand's birth in 1995, made a name for Roger Dubuis with its unique and beautiful case design. Although sadly discontinued, it has made a comeback as a limited production, complicated model that inherits the basic style, coinciding with the return of founder Roger Dubuis to the brand. Two models have been newly added to the lineup. This is one of them. The RD08 movement incorporates a minute repeater mechanism along with a flying tourbillon. To ensure sufficient power to drive these two mechanisms, it is equipped with double platinum micro-rotors. This is a special timepiece that collectors will not want to miss.

Automatic winding, rose gold case, alligator strap, 45mm case diameter, minute repeater mechanism with silent governor, flying tourbillon, limited to 8 pieces worldwide, 40.11 million yen (estimated price). Not scheduled for import into Japan.
