A Mechanical Model with Genuine Diving Capabilities

The evolution of Seiko's diver's watches mirrors the history of Japanese dive watchmaking.

The first Japanese diver's watch, released in 1965, was donated to the Antarctic wintering expedition team four times starting in 1966. The 1968 model, a high-beat 300m air-diving watch that was world-leading at the time, and the 1978 model, the world's first quartz 600m saturation diving watch (※1), also accompanied adventurers to numerous extreme environments, proving their reliability.

This new model distills the essence of these two landmark timepieces in Japanese dive watch history, adhering to JIS and ISO standards while incorporating modern technology.

While preserving the original's distinctive mirror-finished surfaces flowing from the case to the lugs and the dynamic case side shape, the design has been updated for a contemporary, streamlined aesthetic. A slimmer bezel and modern hour and minute hands contribute to a stylish impression that complements both suits and casual attire.

This model is part of the Prospex line as a regular model for skin diving. With a water resistance rating for 200m air diving and a unidirectional rotating bezel, it is equipped for serious diving.

Furthermore, it boasts magnetic resistance (JIS Class 1 Magnetic Resistant Watch), unaffected even when exposed to a direct current magnetic field of 4,800 A/m, ensuring peace of mind for use in the office.

※1 Saturation Diving Water Resistance
A water resistance specification for deep-sea diving that uses a high-pressure mixed gas, composed of inert gases like helium and oxygen, as breathing gas. It requires a performance capable of withstanding dives of at least 200 meters. In addition to standard air diving water resistance, helium gas resistance is necessary.

※2 Diashield
A proprietary surface-processing technology developed by Seiko to protect the watch's original beautiful luster and finish from everyday scratches and minor abrasions.
