As the oldest manufacture based in Geneva, Vacheron Constantin, which has been in operation for 263 years since its founding in 1755, unveiled its new "Fifty-Six" collection at SIHH 2018.

“Dress-down Elegance” that fits any occasion

The new "Fifty-Six" collection, unveiled by Vacheron Constantin at SIHH 2018, is a watch that revives the iconic 1956 model "Reference 6073" for the modern era.

Its retro-modern look elegantly accentuates the wrist, characterized by a sophisticated style that blends seamlessly into any occasion.

The "Fifty-Six" collection follows the typical design of the 1950s, a period of particularly prolific creative output, specifically from 1956.

The collection is distinguished by its lugs, which are an artistic interpretation of the four arms of the Maltese cross, the brand's symbol.

The Maltese cross, a motif derived from the shape of a component in mechanical movements, is an emblem symbolizing Vacheron Constantin's pursuit of the highest quality for over 260 years, a testament to its unwavering dedication and accumulated efforts in watchmaking excellence.

Another feature inherited from the iconic model is the distinctive, highly domed crystal, known as the "box type." This glass shape enhances the retro-modern aesthetic of the "Fifty-Six" collection. Furthermore, honoring the automatic movement used in "Reference 6073," all models, including those with complications, feature automatic movements.

The sapphire crystal see-through case back allows appreciation of the movement's finishes, such as Côtes de Genève, perlage, and snailed patterns, as well as the operation of the new automatic rotor designed by Vacheron Constantin specifically for this collection.

The "Fifty-Six" collection offers three variations: theAutomatic, featuring date display, and the models with date, day, and power reserve indicators,Day/Date, and the model with a complete calendar and high-precision moon phase display,Complete Calendar, each available in stainless steel and 18K gold.

The "Fifty-Six Automatic" is powered by the new in-house automatic movement, Caliber 1326, offering approximately 48 hours of power reserve. In addition to hours, minutes, and center seconds, it features a date display window and a stop-seconds function. The stainless steel model has a grey dial, while the 18K pink gold model features a silver-toned dial, both with two distinct finishes: opaline in the center and sunburst on the periphery.

The "Fifty-Six Day/Date" model adds day and power reserve indicators to the date display. The day is shown at 9 o'clock, the date at 3 o'clock, and the power reserve at 6 o'clock. The openworked 22K gold rotor, visible through the sapphire crystal see-through case back, incorporates a ceramic ball bearing in its rotation mechanism, eliminating the need for lubrication and ensuring the movement's optimal condition.

The highlight of the collection, the "Fifty-Six Complete Calendar," houses a highly regarded complication among discerning watch enthusiasts and collectors behind its understated and elegant monochrome dial. The automatic movement, Caliber 2460 QCL/1, which drives the complete calendar and moon phase display showing the date, day, and month, features an openworked 22K gold rotor adorned with the Maltese cross motif. This movement is exceptionally refined, with its moon phase display boasting remarkable accuracy, requiring correction only once every 122 years, compared to the typical three-year interval.

The "Fifty-Six" collection represents a perfect fusion of Vacheron Constantin's signature stylish and refined sensibility with sophisticated complications.
