Dedicated to the Late Walter Lange
A Unique Stainless Steel Model to Be Auctioned
Walter Lange was born in Saxony, Germany, in 1924.
He is the great-grandson of Ferdinand Adolph Lange, the founder of A. Lange & Söhne, and is known as the "father of the brand's revival" for restoring the brand in 1990 after it had been nationalized by the East German government following World War II.
One of the complications he cherished was the "jumping seconds."
This unique second hand, which ticks forward in one-second increments like a quartz second hand, was invented by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in 1867, developed by his eldest son Richard, and patented in Germany in 1877.

This mechanism has become an indispensable part of the brand's history, inspired by the technology invented by his great-grandfather and refined by his grandfather Emil Lange, who created masterpieces of pocket watches.
For Walter, it held special significance as well, stemming from the history of his great-grandfather's invention and his grandfather Emil Lange's practical application, which resulted in exquisite pocket watches.
The "1815 "Homage to Walter Lange," featuring a jumping seconds complication, is the result of contemplating "What would be the perfect watch Walter Lange might have envisioned?"
Consequently, the newly developed movement is engraved with the caliber number "L1924," referencing Walter's birth year.
The limited production numbers also carry significant meaning.
The 18k yellow gold case model is limited to 27 pieces, representing the years from the brand's revival in 1990 to the present.
The 18k white gold case is limited to 145 pieces, signifying the years from when Ferdinand Adolph Lange founded the brand until its revival in 1990.
The 18k pink gold case is limited to 90 pieces, commemorating the year 1990 when Walter Lange officially registered the brand.
