Prefer Carbon If Weight Is a Concern
For Roger Dubuis, 2015 was a year of many skeletonized models that allowed for an appreciation of the watch's inner workings. While 2016 sees the release of numerous ladies' models, the men's 'Excalibur' collection welcomes lightweight carbon case options.
The Skeletonized 'Excalibur 42 Automatic'
The 'Excalibur 42 Automatic Skeleton Carbon' is particularly outstanding. As the model name suggests, the case is crafted from carbon fiber, guaranteeing exceptional durability.
The skeletonization of the movement involves extensive milling of the mainplate and bridges, leaving only the essential structure to support the gears and other components. This skeletal framework is further enhanced by the star-shaped motifs cut into the bridges and micro-rotor, showcasing a sophisticated graphic design.
The case, likely formed by molding carbon fiber composite under heat, exhibits a random pattern of carbon fiber on its surface. This creates a camouflage-like effect with varying shades of black, lending it a formidable appearance.
