Hajime Sorayama
An artist whose pursuit of beauty in the fusion of human and machine has made him a legendary figure both domestically and internationally. His "Sexy Robot" series (1978–) brought him widespread recognition, profoundly influencing the image of robots by incorporating female human beauty into their forms. In 1999, he undertook the concept design for Sony's entertainment robot "AIBO," and in 2001, he created the album cover for the global rock band Aerosmith's "Just Push Play" (2001). More recently, his collaboration with Dior Men under Kim Jones garnered significant attention. Sorayama's works have been widely exhibited worldwide in shows such as "Unorthodox" (The Jewish Museum, New York, 2015), "Desire" (by Larry Gagosian and Jeffrey Deitch, Moore building, Miami, 2016), "The Universe and Art" (Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, 2016; Art Science Museum, Singapore, 2017), "Cool Japan" (Tropenmuseum, Amsterdam, 2018), and "Tokyo Pop Underground" (Jeffery Deitch, NY/LA, 2019-2020).
