Exquisite Craftsmanship and Beautiful Designs That Resonate Through Time
"Cartier, Crystallization of Time," an exhibition focusing on works from the 1970s to the present day through the lens of "time," opened at The National Art Center on Wednesday, October 2nd.
This exhibition presents masterpieces from private collections alongside pieces from the Cartier Collection, tracing the evolution of Cartier's jewelry design.
The exhibition is structured into three sections: "Color and Materials," "Form and Design," and "Universal Curiosity."
Rather than a linear path, the exhibition space allows visitors to wander freely, mindful of the passage of time. Here, one can truly feel Cartier's designs, which resonate across time and space.

Other highlights include the Panthère, Cartier's iconic symbol of timelessness, and treasure pieces displayed alongside Japanese antiquities. These were curated for this exhibition with the aesthetic sensibility of Hiroshi Sugimoto of New Material Research Laboratory, who also designed the exhibition's spatial arrangement.
Archival materials such as sketches and design sources, which are the wellspring of the maison's creations, are also exhibited in the same space, presenting the timeline from various viewpoints and angles.
