LIGHT in BLACK Campaign Video Released
Did you know that June 10th is Time Memorial Day? On this occasion, CITIZEN is releasing five limited collections themed around "LIGHT in BLACK." A promotional movie featuring jazz musicians has also begun streaming online.

The origin of watches is said to be the sundial, born from light and shadow. The concept of "time" emerged from the regularity depicted by the ever-changing shadows of these sundials. CITIZEN focuses on this "light and shadow" that has created time since ancient times. New models have been announced under the theme "LIGHT in BLACK"—a light born from the darkness.
Black and gold color schemes, inspired by light emanating from darkness, are featured in each of the five new models. All are representative CITIZEN designs, equipped with our acclaimed Eco-Drive light-powered technology.
Eco-Drive is CITIZEN's proprietary technology that converts light into electrical energy to power watches. It eliminates the need for regular battery changes and is highly regarded for its ecological benefits.
The song "Shine On," released as the theme for this new collection's promotional movie, is performed by five distinctive jazz musicians. The composition is by TOKU, a flugelhorn player who also appears in the promotional movie as a vocalist.
The lyrics depict a story where "a love born one day" synchronizes with "the light of hope born from the darkness," captivating the listener with its emotional depth. It resonates with adults who seek a more leisurely pace of life. The movie also showcases CITIZEN's installations, which have garnered international acclaim.

Japan's only vocalist and flugelhorn player. Debuted in January 2000 with Sony Music with the album "Everything She Said." His broad musicality, extending beyond jazz, has led him to participate as a composer and performer on albums by artists such as m-flo, Ken Hirai, Skoop On Somebody, Miki Imai, and Maki Ohguro. His 2008 album "Love Again" featured his first duet with ATSUSHI from EXILE.
He also participated in Cyndi Lauper's domestic tour shortly after the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011, which garnered significant attention. On April 27, 2011, he released "TOKU sings & plays STEVIE WONDER—A JAZZ TRIBUTE FROM ATLANTA," a project he had long envisioned. In May 2015, he released "Dear Mr. SINATORA," a cover album celebrating Frank Sinatra's 100th birthday.
