A New Movement Featuring the Brand's First Pulsometer Function
Founded in 1735 by Jean-Jacques Blancpain, Blancpain is the world's oldest Swiss watch brand. It is also known for establishing current watch standards, such as creating the world's first diver's watch for the French Navy in 1953.
The "Villeret" collection, named after Blancpain's birthplace, is characterized by its Roman numeral dial, preserving the brand's early design ethos. In 2010, the collection underwent a renewal, and these modernly updated timepieces garnered renewed attention.
From this collection, the new "Chronograph Pulsometer" has been introduced. Its defining feature is the new 31.80mm diameter movement, designed in-house. Comprising 322 parts, including a silicon balance spring—notoriously difficult to produce—it boasts a frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour, a first for the brand. It also incorporates a flyback chronograph function, allowing for easy reset and start with a single press of the pusher at the 4 o'clock position.
Furthermore, the inclusion of the pulsometer function, a first for Blancpain, enabling easy measurement of heart rate, is not to be overlooked. A scale for approximating heart rate is arranged around the enamel Roman numeral indices. The result is a distinguished timepiece complemented by a brown alligator strap.
