Founded in 1845, A. Lange & Söhne is a venerable brand. Forced into dormancy during the division of East and West Germany, it was masterfully revived in 1990 by Walter Lange, the founder's great-grandson. The very first model released upon its resurgence was the "Lange 1."

This model is also renowned for being the first wristwatch to feature an "outsize date." Unlike conventional date displays, it uses two date discs to significantly enhance legibility. The dial design is also a calculated feature, with the main dial intentionally offset towards the 9 o'clock position, creating an asymmetrical face. It embodies a traditional aesthetic that conveys the essence of classic German watchmaking. At the 3 o'clock position on the dial, a power reserve indicator displays the remaining wind-up capacity for up to 72 hours. Through the sapphire crystal case back, one can admire the in-house manual-winding movement, "Cal. L901.0," equipped with the traditional "3/4 plate" and "swan neck regulator."
