Royal Oak Offshore Survivor Chronograph
Text by OPENERS
A bold new black design has arrived from the Royal Oak series: the Royal Oak Offshore Survivor Chronograph.
The use of titanium throughout the case, push-pieces, crown guards, and crown, combined with an openworked construction, makes it surprisingly light on the wrist.
Furthermore, no detail has been overlooked, from the easy-to-press, cone-shaped push-pieces to the non-slip surface on the case back. This is a fitting new addition to a collection that pioneered the luxury sports watch, balancing dynamic design with supreme wearability.
Meanwhile, new releases have also arrived from the Millenary collection, known for its distinctive off-center dial. This is a limited edition model, a collaboration with Yasutomo Morita, designer at the Audemars Piguet Boutique in Ginza, Tokyo.
The dial, inspired by Morita's beloved champagne, features a motif of effervescent bubbles rendered in gold and diamonds, further enhancing its unique aesthetic.
The "Royal Oak Offshore Survivor Chronograph," a sports watch embodying dynamism, and the "MILLENARY LIMITED EDITION by MORITA," pursuing elegance. With these two new faces, Audemars Piguet showcases its mastery of contrasting personalities.

BRAND HISTORY
The brand's history began in 1875 when watchmaker Jules-Louis Audemars collaborated with his childhood friend, watch finisher Edward-Auguste Piguet. In 1882, they officially registered the company name Audemars Piguet and established the "Manufacture" watch workshop.
In 1889, they unveiled the "Grand Complication" pocket watch, featuring numerous complex mechanisms such as the split-seconds chronograph and perpetual calendar. By 1894, they had produced the world's smallest pocket minute repeater, demonstrating exceptional technical prowess from its inception.
Entering the new century, even as the company's management passed to successors, Audemars Piguet continued to pursue innovative watchmaking, creating the world's thinnest pocket watch at just 1.5mm thick. It solidified its position as a prestigious brand with unparalleled status, reigning throughout the 20th century.
In the 1970s, they launched the "Royal Oak" (1972), featuring an octagonal case inspired by the portholes of British warships and incorporating the brand's first use of stainless steel. This model established the "luxury sports watch" genre in the watchmaking world and remains a beloved long-seller globally.
In 1986, Audemars Piguet introduced the first wristwatch to feature a tourbillon. Furthermore, in 1996, they achieved the remarkable feat of integrating the complex, multi-functional capabilities of the "Grand Complication" created by the founders into a wristwatch format.
Since the 21st century, the brand has continued to develop proprietary movements and actively incorporates diverse materials for cases and movements. In 2006, they devised a new escapement mechanism, further cementing their role as a leader driving the future of watchmaking.
