A joint exhibition, "AYAKA NISHIHARA & AINE JOE GROUP EXHIBITION Intimate Beings," featuring oil portraits by Aine Joe, who draws people close to her like family, and paintings by Ayaka Nishihara, depicting scenes from within the home such as frosted glass and flowers seen through windows, will be held at "Oku-kimachi Machiya," an庵町家stay in Kyoto.

This exhibition presents works themed around individual perspectives in daily life within the setting of "庵町家stay," a lodging experience in a traditional Kyoto townhouse. By experiencing the paintings in a machiya—a space that was once a private residence, now a modern dwelling where personal furnishings mingle with the house's original fixtures—the aim is to make the artworks feel more intimate.

In this era where isolation, individuality, and living spaces have been emphasized and felt due to the pandemic, this exhibition invites reflection on what constitutes new privacy and intimate beings from the perspectives of these two artists.
