National Geographic, the documentary-specialty channel, will broadcast the drama series "Genius: Picasso" (10 episodes), which depicts the life of Pablo Picasso, the greatest artist of the 20th century, starting Sunday, July 29, 2018, at 10 PM. This drama series is the second installment of "Genius," a series that delves into the unknown private lives of geniuses who have left great footprints in human history. Like the previous work that portrayed the life of the genius scientist Einstein, this series portrays the life and unknown private life of the genius artist Picasso. The executive producers are Academy Award-winning directors Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, continuing from the previous work. The role of Pablo Picasso is played by world-renowned star Antonio Banderas, who hails from Spain, just like Picasso.

The Life and Unknown Private Life of Genius Artist Picasso

This work depicts the turbulent life of the genius artist Picasso. While Picasso, the founder of Cubism, shattered all established concepts in the art world and is known by everyone worldwide as the greatest painter of the 20th century, what kind of person was he, what kind of life did he lead, and how did he bring his talent to fruition? The series unravels his personality by interweaving various timelines from Picasso's 91-year-long life.

The program also depicts the behind-the-scenes stories of the creation of Picasso's masterpieces, which everyone has seen at least once, starting with the anti-war masterpiece "Guernica," inspired by the bombing of the city of Guernica by German forces during the Spanish Civil War. Why did Picasso, who deliberately avoided involvement in politics, release works with an anti-war theme? The series delves into the various phases of his life and the passionate sentiments Picasso poured into each painting. Furthermore, Picasso is known as a man who loved many women, but for him, women were not merely romantic interests but also sources of creative inspiration. The passionate romances with strong-willed women Picasso loved are also depicted in this program.
