Kyoto National Museum's Former Main Building to Serve as Main Venue for "ARTISTS’ FAIR KYOTO 2024"
The artist-led art fair "ARTISTS' FAIR KYOTO 2024" has been scheduled to take place from Friday, March 1st to Sunday, March 3rd, 2024.
Now in its seventh year, this event transcends the conventional art fair framework, aiming to foster opportunities for emerging artists to launch their careers and to create a space for interaction between visitors and artists.
With the theme "Singularity of Art," expressing the hope for the birth of new art systems, the fair welcomes Noboru Tsubaki as director and a 16-member advisory board, including Bosco Sodi and Yan Tuu, who recommend emerging artists. Forty-five promising young artists, selected by the advisory board and through open calls, will participate.
This year's main venues are the Kyoto National Museum's Former Main Building, a first for the fair, and the basement floor of the Kyoto Shimbun Building, which has traditionally provided an industrial backdrop for artworks. At these unique and atmospheric venues, a diverse range of works will be exhibited and sold, from paintings to installations utilizing cutting-edge technology. Furthermore, satellite venues throughout Kyoto and a project to nurture young critics will continue.
We anticipate this fair, which expands the boundaries between art exhibitions and art fairs on an ever-growing scale, with great interest.
