The 7th and 8th editions of the online tasting project "SAKE x NOMY," where you can learn directly from brewers while at home, will be held on Saturday, June 13th. Participating breweries include "Ippaku Suisei," a fine sake from Akita that emphasizes local sake production, and "Nanatsuyari," which focuses on the "local" aspect of local sake.

Rare and Fine Sakes to Appear One After Another!

JAPAN CRAFT SAKE COMPANY, which plans, produces, operates, and manages various events to promote the demand for sake, has decided to hold the seventh and eighth online tasting events, "SAKE x NOMY," on Saturday, June 13th, to invigorate the sake industry, which has been affected by the self-restraint of restaurant operations and event cancellations due to the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The seventh session (June 13th, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM) will feature Mr. Yasue Watanabe, the brewer of Fukurokuju Shuzo, who is also a member of "NEXT5," a group of five breweries from Akita Prefecture. He will introduce the two flagship brands, "Fukurokuju" and "Ippaku Suisei."

"NEXT5" is a unit composed of five young brewery owners from Akita Prefecture, named with the aspiration to "seek sake production with an eye on the next generation and become a force that can lead Akita's sake brewing." Mr. Watanabe, embodying this concept, is also gaining attention for his sake brewing that fuses tradition and innovation.

This time, from Fukurokuju Shuzo's flagship brand "Ippaku Suisei," a special selection of three bottles, including a sake submitted to the National New Sake Appraisal which is not usually available on the market, will be prepared. The MC will be Ms. Kauri Sasai, who was also the Tokyo representative for Miss Sake 2018, to liven up the event.

The eighth session (June 13th, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM) will feature Mr. Yasunobu Tomita, the 15th generation brewer of Tomita Shuzo Co., Ltd. He will speak about the popular brand "Nanatsuyari." Mr. Tomita, who works as a master brewer in the winter and travels far and wide in the summer to promote sake, leads a long-established brewery that has continued to evolve with the "local" character of Shiga, located along the Hokkoku Kaido at the northernmost tip of Lake Biwa, at the foot of Mt. Chikubu. The brewery emphasizes brewing with local rice, water, and environment, focusing on the "local" aspect of local sake, and produces sake that allows you to savor the umami of the rice, making it an excellent food pairing sake.

For this event, a selection of rare "Nanatsuyari" sakes will be offered, including a non-sale Kijo-shu (sake brewed with sake). Ms. Kauri Sasai will continue as the MC, as she did for the seventh session.

Starting with the seventh session, tickets can now be selected from three options based on the desired number of sake bottles. This event can be enjoyed by a wide range of people, from those who regularly enjoy sake to those who want to start learning about sake through this opportunity.
