Art Hotel Rakudo-an in Toyama has unveiled "Rei Naito: Returning Gift," the artist's first permanent installation worldwide, marking its public opening. This is the third permanent installation following works on Naoshima and Teshima islands, and the first to be situated outdoors.

"Returning Gift" is a work that integrates "Tama/Anima (Please breathe life into me)" with a garden overlooking the scattered village rice paddies. It is a three-dimensional piece featuring a delicate water channel, 3.65 cm wide and 460 cm long, filled with water. Ripples created by a breath travel across the water's surface, drawing the viewer's consciousness towards the surrounding scattered village. The work was created for Rakudo-an, inspired by what Naito received during her repeated visits to the scattered villages of the Tonami Plain.

This piece, brought to life by the viewer's breath, embodies Naito's unique sensibility of receiving and reciprocating the influences of the unseen land and nature.
Guests staying at the hotel can view the installation freely during their stay (excluding certain hours). General visitors can also experience it through advance reservation for a fee (1,200 yen).

Within the hotel, Naito's works "color beginning" and "hito" are also displayed. Amidst the beautiful landscape and the carefully curated selection of folk crafts, antiques, contemporary art, artisanal works, and interior design throughout the rooms and common areas, immerse yourself in the pleasure of art as time gently unfolds.
