Online Tasting [SAKE x NOMY]: The 2nd Session Features "Jikon"!

The second session of "SAKE x NOMY," an e-tasting experience where you can learn directly from brewers and enjoy sake online, has been decided! We welcome "Jikon," a renowned sake from Mie Prefecture, for a session on Saturday, May 16th, at 2 PM via ZOOM.

A "STAY HOME" initiative to support the sake industry from your own home.

JAPAN CRAFT SAKE COMPANY, which plans, produces, operates, and manages various events to promote the demand for sake, has decided to hold the second installment of its online tasting event, "SAKE (Sake) x NOMY (Learning)," on Saturday, May 16th, at 2:00 PM. This initiative aims to invigorate the sake industry, which has been impacted by the self-restraint of restaurant operations and event cancellations due to the spread of the novel coronavirus.

In "SAKE x NOMY," we invite a different sake brewery for each session. Using the online conferencing service "ZOOM," participants can hear directly from the brewer about the stories, history, and philosophy behind sake production, while simultaneously savoring special sake from that brewery.

The first session featured "Juyondai" (Takagi Shuzo), a brewery that always draws long queues at "CRAFT SAKE WEEK," an event showcasing the appeal of Japanese cuisine and culture, including sake, with select breweries from across the country. Applications closed in an instant.

For this second session, we are pleased to have Mr. Yoshikatsu Onishi from Kiya Masashuzo Goshi Kaisha, a brewery located in Mie Prefecture. Ms. Junko Kondo, a freelance announcer and Master Instructor at the JSA Japan Sake Association, will serve as MC. We invite you to enjoy two carefully selected bottles of sake (720ml) introduced by the brewer, while listening to valuable insights that are rarely heard.

Participation is simple. After completing your application and paying the participation fee of 15,000 yen in advance via PassMarket (https://passmarket.yahoo.co.jp/event/show/detail/01dhqc10ygnku.html), you will receive a ZOOM URL and password via email, and the two bottles of sake will be delivered to your address.

On the official website "Sakenomy" (https://www.sakenomy.jp/) and the official app, we will soon be releasing various content, including the online tasting series "SAKE x NOMY," "Chef's Table" video content where you can learn to make home-style dishes to enjoy with sake from Japan's top chefs, and "Recommended Osechi" (gourmet food items for delivery) selected by brewers. We will continue to implement diverse content to support sake breweries nationwide.

Brewer Information
Brewery Name: Kiya Masashuzo Goshi Kaisha
URL:https://kiyashow.com/about.html
Address: 314-1 Honmachi, Nabari City, Mie Prefecture
Founded: 1818
Founded in Bunsei 1 (1818), during the mid-Edo period. The store and main residence, which retain the atmosphere of that era, are designated as Registered Tangible Cultural Properties. For a long time, the brewery produced the "Takasago" brand of sake, primarily sold in the Iga region. However, in 2005, they released the new brand "Jikon" (meaning "this time" or "the present moment"), crafted after re-evaluating every step of the process. This sake is now distributed to specialty sake shops nationwide.
