Online Sake Tasting [SAKE x NOMY]: The 4th Session Featuring "Senkin"

To invigorate the sake industry, which has been impacted by the self-restraint of restaurants and event cancellations due to the spread of the novel virus, JAPAN CRAFT SAKE COMPANY will host an online tasting event, "SAKE x NOMY," using the video conferencing system "Zoom." In this fourth session, we will enjoy a tasting while hearing from "Senkin," a brewery that revives ultra-natural sake for the modern era.

Sake Tasting: Learn Directly from the Brewery

The guest for this fourth session is Kazuki Usui of Senkin Co., Ltd., who brews a unique sake, akin to white wine, inspired by concepts like "nature" and "domaine" from the wine world. The MC will be Shizuka Midorikawa, an actress, model, and talent who also holds a certified sake sommelier qualification and shares the wonders of sake on her social media. This promises to be a rare and unprecedented gathering. The ticket includes three carefully selected 720ml bottles of sake, introduced by the brewery on the day.

Brewery Information
A brewery that revives ultra-natural sake for the modern era through the "domaine-ification" of its raw rice. "Senkin" was founded in 1806, the third year of the Bunka era of the Edo period, in Sakura City, Tochigi Prefecture.

"Senkin" means "crane," a bird that serves immortals, and has been passed down as the brewery's name for generations. They have achieved "domaine-ification," harvesting raw rice from fields situated on the same water vein as the brewery's brewing water. Their concept is to emphasize terroir, utilizing the local climate and environment in their sake production.

Furthermore, they recreate Edo-period brewing methods for the modern age. Under the banner of "EDO STYLE," they produce classic, ultra-natural sake using completely yeast-free, kimoto-zukuri (traditional starter mash) methods, organic raw rice, and wooden vats.
