Takahiro Matsuo's exhibition "Light Crystallized," themed around the "crystallization of light," has begun
The exhibition "Takahiro Matsuo 'Light Crystallized,'" by Lucent Design led by artist Takahiro Matsuo, has opened at BAG-Brillia Art Gallery- in Kyobashi, Tokyo.
Takahiro Matsuo is an artist who explores emotional light art, working across diverse fields including video, lighting, and objects, with a focus on installations. He established LUCENT in 2012 and has undertaken various spatial art projects both domestically and internationally.
This exhibition, themed around the "crystallization of light," materializes and visualizes the intangible light and its brilliance, which disappear as phenomena, into individual artworks. Within a space dominated by white, the exhibition features the premiere of large-scale works using "quartz glass"—a material rare worldwide for its water-like transparency—alongside pieces such as "SPECTRA," his signature installation of water and light. Furthermore, new works from "EMISSION," a studio launched in 2020 to bring sophisticated radiance and light art into daily life, will also be exhibited and available for purchase.
Marking ten years since LUCENT's establishment, the exhibition is structured to showcase the expansion of Matsuo's thinking leading to his current work, allowing visitors to feel the connection to his concepts even as he shifts mediums between art and products. Please enjoy the radiance and transparent light art, unique to the winter season.
