National Geographic TV "PHOTO ARK: A Noah's Ark of Animals" Broadcast Commemoration: An Exhibition on Endangered Species Through Photography and Film, December 22 (Fri) - January 8 (Mon) @ Futako Tamagawa Rise
The documentary channel National Geographic will host an exhibition titled "PHOTO ARK: A Noah's Ark of Animals" to commemorate the broadcast of its namesake program. The event, which showcases endangered species through photography and film, will be held from Friday, December 22, 2017, to Monday, January 8, 2018, at iTSCOM STUDIO & HALL, Futako Tamagawa Rise.
What is "PHOTO ARK"?
This initiative, spearheaded by National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore, aims to photographically document approximately 12,000 species of animals residing in zoos and conservation facilities worldwide. Driven by Sartore's belief that "we can't save what we don't know exists," the project seeks to raise awareness of endangered animals and preserve their images for future generations by capturing and exhibiting their portraits. A distinctive feature of the project is the use of plain black or white backdrops for all animal portraits, ensuring a consistent presentation. Sartore plans to dedicate 25 years to this endeavor and has already photographed over 7,000 species. The program "PHOTO ARK: A Noah's Ark of Animals" follows Sartore on his global expeditions to photograph animals in locations such as Madagascar, China, and Europe. It reveals the behind-the-scenes challenges of capturing unpredictable creatures, explores the ecology of rare animals, and conveys Sartore's reflections on the plight of species facing extinction.
