Set in Kyoto, the new artist-led art fair, ARTISTS’ FAIR KYOTO 2019, is held.
Following its 2018 debut, ARTISTS’ FAIR KYOTO 2019, an artist-led art fair showcasing contemporary art, will be held in the historic city of Kyoto.
This art fair, which transcends the existing framework, is an endeavor by artists themselves to pioneer new markets and connect culture with the economy.
It aims to foster an environment where emerging artists can create culture sustainably and creatively, by generating interaction between visitors and artists and making the "culture of buying art" a part of daily life.
Once again, Nobuo TSUBAKI serves as Director, supported by an advisory board of 13 leading artists: Mitsuhiro IKEDA, Kaori USUKUBO, Daisuke OHBA, Teppei KANEKO, Ko KAMO, Chiharu SHIOTA, Kohei TAKAHASHI, Kenji TSURUTA, Kohei NAWA, Aiko MIYANAGA, Yoshitaka YAzu, Kenji YANOBUE, and Yotta. These advisors have selected emerging artists to exhibit from their diverse perspectives.
Furthermore, a new open call section has been established to discover new talent, opening the doors widely.
The fair will feature 43 emerging artists in their 20s and 30s, selected through recommendations and open calls, along with supporting exhibits from the advisory board, showcasing over 200 works.
A highlight will be the collaborative exhibition by two emerging artists invited from Japan and India.
The venue has expanded to two locations: the Kyoto Museum of Culture, Annex, and the former Kyoto Shimbun Building Printing Factory.
In Kyoto, a city that has given birth to innovation from tradition, a new "art fair" is set to launch again, with the concept of "Singularity of Art." It aims to help artists expand their reach to the next dimension, looking towards the global market.

【Scenes from the previous event】
Held for the first time in February 2018, ARTISTS’ FAIR KYOTO brought together works by current artists active worldwide and emerging artists they selected, all within an imaginative exhibition space set against the backdrop of Kyoto's representative Meiji-era architecture, a designated Important Cultural Property. The stimulating experience of purchasing art, surrounded by works scattered throughout the eccentric space, garnered significant acclaim. The event concluded with the lingering excitement of many visitors who felt they had witnessed the beginning of a new history—an art fair blurring the lines with art exhibitions.
