Savor Hawaiian music and hula at Halekulani Hotel's special May performance.
Halekulani, a hotel in Waikiki, Hawaii, whose name means "house befitting heaven," will host "Mele Mei," a special performance featuring talented artists presenting Hawaiian music and hula every Sunday in May from noon to 2:30 p.m.
The venue is House Without A Key, directly facing Waikiki Beach.
The series kicks off today, May 7th, with Keauhou, an emerging group nominated for Best New Artist at this year's Na Hoku Hanohano Awards. This will be followed by slack-key guitar master Ledward Kaapana, the young trio "Kaiao" who focus on traditional Hawaiian music, and finally, Ku'uipo Kumukahi, affectionately known as "the sweetheart of Hawaiian music" (Ku'uipo in Hawaiian), presenting a stellar lineup.
This year marks the seventh iteration of Mele Mei.
The special performance at Halekulani is one of over 80 Mele Mei events.
These events are held not only on Oahu but also on Kauai, Maui, and the island of Hawaii, at hotels, community centers, and park facilities.
