Onitsuka Tiger collaborates with Sansa Sakiori Kobo. A new shoe collection has arrived.

Onitsuka Tiger introduces two new shoe models born from a collaboration with the Sansa Sakiori Kobo brand, based in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture.

These are available at Onitsuka Tiger direct-managed stores and the Onitsuka Tiger Magazine online store.

Sakiori is a traditional weaving technique passed down through generations in the Tohoku region since the Edo period, born from a "wisdom of living" during a time when cotton was scarce.

It involves meticulously tearing surplus fabric into strips to create weft threads, which are then carefully woven, one by one, on a loom.

The majority of this process is done by hand, resulting in a uniquely warm texture that is difficult to replicate with machinery.

For this collection, two popular Onitsuka Tiger models have been reimagined: the classic MEXICO 66 and the GSM, a court-type shoe based on a tennis shoe released in the 1980s.

The uppers feature sakiori weaving, crafted by Tohoku artisans using recycled denim scraps from the weaving process, repurposed as weft threads.

Both models are available in two variations: a simple white design, and a blue-based version where the weft threads express Onitsuka Tiger's signature tricolor.

Don't miss these collaborative Onitsuka Tiger shoes, updated with Japan's exquisite craftsmanship.
