In 2021, adidas Originals' icon, Stan Smith, becomes sustainable.
The Stan Smith, an icon from the street sportswear brand adidas Originals, is reborn as a sustainable sneaker.
In pursuit of adidas's sustainability commitment, "END PLASTIC WASTE"—the ambitious goal to eliminate virgin polyester use and switch to recycled polyester in all adidas products by 2024—2021 sees the Stan Smith, an icon of adidas Originals, sustainably reimagined.
While retaining the iconic silhouette that has been passed down through generations as a symbol of modern design since its inception, the Stan Smith has been re-engineered from the inside out, now featuring the high-performance recycled material PRIMEGREEN.
The upper is crafted from recycled polyester with a premium PU coating that mimics the look and feel of leather, aiming to transform the substance rather than the appearance.
Furthermore, the outsole utilizes natural and recycled rubber, while details such as the laces, lining, and insoles are also made from recycled materials.
Attention is drawn to the Stan Smith, an archival icon rebuilt for the future as a sustainable style.
