Introducing "Paper Wood - 47 Project": Ecological Material with the Warmth of Japanese Wood.

Creco Lab is launching "Paper Wood - 47 Project," a collaboration utilizing wood resources from all 47 prefectures of Japan.

Paper Wood is a material crafted by artisans who transform wood into ultra-thin sheets, less than 0.1mm thick, carefully bonded to a paper backing. Its charm lies in the unique grain, texture, and subtle aroma of natural wood, offering the versatility of paper—it can be folded, cut, and printed on with laser or inkjet printers. The material primarily uses woods such as cypress, cherry, and cedar. It has been utilized in products for workshops, offering both the joy of working with wood and the excitement of creation.

This project allows for unique regional characteristics by utilizing wood from each of the 47 prefectures. Even wood of the same species will vary in texture depending on its growing region. It can be used for a wide range of applications, from local gift items like origami and postcards to mobiles and interior decor that enlivens any space.

The products will be unveiled for the first time at the "28th International Stationery & Office Products Expo" held at Tokyo Big Sight.
