For the 2018 edition of the Hobonichi Techo cover, which has been produced since 2010, a new vertical diary cover has been created.

The name given to the cover, "PASSE-AVANT," is French and literally translates to "before the past," meaning "the present moment."

Designer Henri Begault imbued this name with the sentiment, "Time flows ceaselessly, and even this very moment becomes the past. We hope you will cherish and build upon these 'nows' just before they turn into the past."

When opened, a pen holder is located in the center, and its size is perfect not only as a diary cover but also as a passport cover.
