A New Way to Enjoy Hotels and Foster Community, Curated by lyf Ginza Tokyo | TRAVEL

A Hotel Stay Becomes the Destination

Since the pandemic, people have found new ways to enjoy hotels. Remote work has become commonplace, leading to trends like 'workations' (working from resort destinations) and 'bleisure' (combining business trips with leisure). Beyond these, concepts like 'hocance' (staying at a hotel for a vacation) and 'staycations' (spending weekends at nearby hotels for relaxation) have emerged, transforming hotels from mere places to sleep during travel or business trips.

When traveling, I might choose a slightly more expensive, well-regarded hotel for a once-a-year treat, considering its dining, onsen, and local attractions. For business trips, I prioritize a convenient, clean space at a reasonable price. But for other occasions, the criteria change. While cleanliness is a given, a standard business hotel feels uninspired. I seek accommodations that offer a bit of excitement and fresh input.

A New Hotel Stay to Inspire Guests' Senses

In such times, I'd like to recommend 'lyf Ginza Tokyo'.
This is a new style of stay created by Ascott, a hospitality group based in Singapore with over 940 properties worldwide. Ascott's expertise extends beyond hotels to serviced apartments, senior living residences, and rental properties, ensuring a high level of hospitality. Under the concept 'A New Way to Belong,' lyf offers a service that functions as a community space, welcoming not just travelers but anyone to drop by and providing various experiences and programs. Currently, in Japan, it operates in Tokyo's Ginza and Fukuoka's Tenjin.
There are 8 types of rooms, totaling 140. Prices start from a reasonable ¥11,200 (excluding tax and service charge). The hotel features extensive contactless services, including mobile check-in/out, mobile key access, and mobile access to local guides, making it convenient to move around.
The hotel's exterior and interior feature special graphics created by artists, stimulating creativity alongside a unique sense of comfort. The graphics, themed around Ginza, are based on the orange color of the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line. Three Japanese artists—STOMACHACHE., megumi yamazaki, and Yuji Oda—have depicted the diversity of people who gather at lyf.
As expected from a place that calls itself a community space, the shared facilities are also well-equipped. The second-floor co-working space, 'Connect,' features desks with power outlets and semi-private workspaces. Guests can bring food and drinks from the first-floor Café & Bar 'Refuel Plus,' fostering interaction and information exchange among guests. Refuel Plus is also open to non-staying guests.
On the second floor, there's also a social kitchen 'Bond,' a gym 'Burn,' and a laundry room 'Wash & Hang.' Bond is equipped with a microwave, ice maker, water server, and an IH stove (operational from 6:00 to 23:00), allowing guests to cook with ingredients they bring and connect with others. With Burn and Wash & Hang available, it's also suitable for slightly longer stays.
It's a great option for a quick trip to Tokyo, or even for Tokyo residents seeking a change of pace. Its location in Ginza, with excellent access to anywhere, makes 'lyf Ginza Tokyo' a versatile choice for any occasion. Why not add it to your repertoire of go-to spots?
