Thorough Safety Guidance and Reliable Equipment Support

Mount Fuji, Japan's most sacred peak. Even for those who don't consider climbing a hobby, many aspire to ascend it at least once in their lifetime. In fact, the number of climbers on Mt. Fuji has been increasing year by year. However, there are also cases where people give up on reaching the summit due to insufficient preparation or lack of knowledge.

Leveraging its prime location at an altitude of 800 meters on the foothills of Mt. Fuji, about an hour's drive from the 5th Station trailhead, HOSHINOYA Fuji has designed a program that allows even beginners to aim for the summit with confidence and comfort.

Now in its third year, we introduce the "Glamorous Mt. Fuji Ascent," highlighting its enhanced support services compared to previous iterations.

Full Support from Expert Guides

While the general summit success rate for Mt. Fuji is said to be around 50%, tours led by "Gouriki Mt. Fuji Climbing School," which supports this program, boast a 90% success rate. Their thorough attention to safety, comprehensive services like pre-climb counseling for participants, and more have earned them various awards.

Starting a month before the climb, staff from "Gouriki Mt. Fuji Climbing School" provide pre-climb counseling via phone and email, offering thorough guidance on physical condition management and equipment. They provide specific information on building stamina for the climb and selecting appropriate wear and gear. Rental services for some items are also available if participants cannot prepare all necessary equipment.

The timing of the ascent is also crucial. Day trips or late-night departures to see the sunrise are common, but these can be physically demanding and involve climbing near the summit in the dark, which carries risks due to slippery conditions. Therefore, this program primarily schedules climbs during daylight hours.

The schedule involves starting around noon, arriving at a mountain hut in the evening, resting thoroughly overnight, and then departing again at dawn to have lunch at the summit. While the sunrise will be viewed from the mountain hut, it offers a spectacular view comparable to the summit, enjoyed at a relaxed pace without the crowds. This is a key appeal for those who may lack confidence in their physical stamina.

A Luxurious Environment Unbefitting a Climbing Program

The accommodation for this program is the "Toyokan Mountain Hut," located at an altitude of 3000 meters. Each room can be reserved for a single group of up to five people. While typical mountain huts involve sleeping in sleeping bags in a large communal room or on bunk beds, securing such private space at this altitude is exceptionally rare. The dinner service rivals that of a hotel. Additionally, guests can relax in a foot bath or enjoy a guided stargazing session, providing a comfortable experience to soothe tired bodies and support the tour.

Participation requires an overnight stay at HOSHINOYA Fuji either before or after the climb, during which further support is provided. For pre-climb stays, participants visit the Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine, the starting point for Mt. Fuji climbs, to pray for safety. They also engage in creating energy-boosting trail snacks and receive a pre-climb lecture and equipment check from guide Mr. Kondo. Spending time at high altitude the day before the climb can also help acclimatize the body and increase peace of mind.

In response to feedback that "the descent is tougher than the ascent," post-climb stays include a foot treatment to soothe tired muscles. The continuous, uneven downhill terrain puts more strain on the legs than one might expect, making this treatment particularly beneficial.

This program not only offers the satisfaction of reaching the summit and enjoying breathtaking views but also satisfies intellectual curiosity by allowing participants to learn about the history and cultural significance of Mt. Fuji for the Japanese people. HOSHINOYA Fuji believes this is the true meaning of "glamorous."
