KHARI SIMMONS "SUNFLOWER"
With a concept of “Timeless Music for Epicureans,” the new label “MIRAMAR” has garnered attention, following their September release of The Beauty Room's "All In My Head." Their long-awaited second release is the solo debut in Japan by Khari Simmons, a producer and bass player gaining national recognition. This is the birth of a timeless masterpiece, where paradisiacal 70s funk/fusion and rich Brazilian flavors crossover.

Sun-Kissed Mellow Grooves Woven with Esteemed Musicians
Khari Simmons, who began playing bass at age 12 and studied composition and music theory at an Atlanta music college, formed The Groovement & Earthseed Music Collective after graduation and signed with the long-standing New York label "Giant Step." He later released an album as a unit with female singer Julie Dexter, resonating with the neo-soul movement, and also participated in tours with artists like Sade and Russell Gunn, accumulating a valuable career.
This work, "SUNFLOWER," marking his long-awaited Japanese debut, features a stellar lineup of guest musicians. Highlights include a cover of Stevie Wonder's iconic song "Never in Your Sun" featuring India.Arie, and "Belle of Byron Bay," where Monday Michiru delivers a groove-filled Brazilian scat.
Other noteworthy tracks include "Major Bossa," featuring Sabrina Malheiros, the daughter of Azymuth's bassist Alex Malheiros, on vocals, and a cover of the British rock band Keane's signature song "Is It Any Wonder?" with Julie Dexter on vocals. Furthermore, the participation of the UK's highly accomplished jazz-funk band Incognito on "How Can We Go Long," and the fact that their leader, Bluey, handled the album mix, further elevate the perfection of this album.
This work, imbued with lustrous melodies and groove, and showcasing talent in soul, jazz, and Brazilian music throughout, is truly a masterpiece of the highest quality with a timeless feel. It is recommended not only as an album to enhance everyday enjoyment but also as background music for special occasions. Please savor this masterpiece, crafted for adult music fans, as you transition from spring to summer.
