TOKYO DANCE MUSIC EVENT (hereafter, TDME), Japan's largest comprehensive event focused on dance music, will be held for three days from Thursday, November 30, 2017, to Saturday, December 2, 2017, at multiple venues centered around Tokyo Shibuya Hikarie (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo).

Shibuya Buzzes with Dance Music for Three Days


Now in its second year, TDME is Japan's largest comprehensive conference & event, bringing together people and companies involved in the global music industry.

The event is comprised of three parts: "CONFERENCE (International Conference)," "SESSIONS (Music Production)," and "LIVE (Music Performance)," with artists, companies, and experts gaining attention both domestically and internationally appearing in each part.

Among the many events scheduled over the three days, the following are considered highlights:

1 How will blockchain technology transform the music industry?

As part of the "TECH STAGE," which discusses cutting-edge initiatives driving next-generation technology and innovation, Kohei Ogawa, representative of domestic fintech service VALU, will discuss the transformative potential of blockchain technology,



which is currently a hot topic, for the music industry. Music journalist Naori Shiba is scheduled to moderate.

2 Next-generation creator audition "INTERLUDE from TDME" to be held for the first time! Genre | SESSION

This year marks the inaugural "INTERLUDE from TDME," an audition to recruit electronic creators, launched by TDME. The event aims to discover creators who will go on to make their mark on the world through TDME.



Special judges include Satoshi Tomiie, DJ DARUMA (PKCZ®), and Seiho. DJ DARUMA (PKCZ®) will also appear for the announcement of the first-round results, held at TDME on Thursday, November 30, starting at 13:15.

3 World-renowned DJs to perform in Japan! First-ever "SPINNIN’ SESSIONS at TDME"

SPINNIN’ RECORDS, the leading electronic dance music label from the Netherlands that created the global EDM boom, makes its Japan debut. Popular artists worldwide such as EDX,



Madison Mars, and Mike Williams will perform live at Hikarie.

4 The Gap Between India and Japan's Dance Music Scenes

Anish Sood, one of India's most breakthrough DJs in the dance music scene, and producer Prateek Pandey will be invited to discuss the music business in India, a country with over 1.3 billion people and a music scene still unfamiliar to Japan, and how to bridge the gap between the two countries. TDME is the only place in the world where you can gain such deep insights into the Asian market.

5 The Intersection of Dance Music and Games, Leading to VR and Rez Infinite

Tetsuya Mizuguchi, who has been active in various creative fields including producing game titles like "Sega Rally" and "REZ," and music unit "Genki Rockets," as well as writing lyrics and directing visuals, will discuss the affinity between dance music and games, and the entertainment experience through VR. This session is not only of interest to those in the music industry but also to those in the game industry.
