A new installment has arrived in DJ Tatsuo Sunaga's lifelong "Yoru Jazz" compilation series: "Yoru Jazz: Vee Jay"! This edition spotlights the American jazz label Vee-Jay, offering a sophisticated selection perfect for enjoying the long autumn nights.

Archives That Set the Night Aglow
Tatsuo Sunaga, known by the moniker "Record Bancho" (Record Boss), presents the latest volume in his lifelong "Yoru Jazz" series. This installment shines a light on Vee-Jay, a label that released jazz works from the late 1950s through the 1960s.
The CD features 13 timeless tracks from Vee-Jay, including "On Stage" by jazz pianist Wynton Kelly, "Spartacus" by saxophonist Eddie Harris, and "Mopp Shoo Blues" by jazz bassist Paul Chambers.
Sunaga proposed, "Perhaps we can perceive the somewhat ambiguous jazz works of the Vee-Jay label as having a distinct character." He commented, "Eddie Harris's saxophone, roaring bluesily—sweetly, beautifully, and poignantly—on the masterpiece 'EXODUS' serves as Vee-Jay's sound logo and the origin of Yoru Jazz. Chicago held so many archives like this, capable of setting the night aglow."
