Immerse Yourself in the Jazz Spirit of Master Players Amidst the Sea Breeze
The "Blue Note JAZZ FESTIVAL," a grand event held across various clubs and halls in NY for an entire month, is now in its sixth year and has firmly established itself as a quintessential part of the New York summer. For the second year running, this festival comes to Japan as a one-day outdoor event. The venue is the Yokohama Red Brick Special Outdoor Stage. With the Osanbashi pier in front and the Bay Bridge beyond, the scenery will paint a vibrant backdrop to the music.
The lineup features artists who are, without question, masters of their craft.
Earth, Wind & Fire, who led the disco groove of the '70s with hits like "September," recently lost their frontman Maurice White in February. With new members joining, anticipation is high for an energetic stage performance showcasing their continued evolution.
Guitarist George Benson, popular not only in the jazz scene but also in soul and AOR circles, will perform with his band. His smooth, sweet vocals, punctuated by scat singing, and his octave-playing guitar solos, all carried on the sea breeze, will create a truly "breezy" atmosphere.
The most anticipated act this year is undoubtedly Marcus Miller, a charismatic figure who leads the era as a bassist, producer, and songwriter. His sublime grooves and overflowing emotion are something you absolutely must experience live.
The lineup also includes Andra Day, a diva whose singing voice caught the attention of Stevie Wonder, leading to her major debut in 2015. Additionally, there's the "acoustic electronica trio" GoGo Penguin, who draw inspiration from a diverse range of music including classical, techno, drum and bass, and dubstep, all built upon a jazz foundation. With such a varied roster, the festival promises to be engaging from start to finish.
Let's eagerly await this "slightly grown-up outdoor festival" where exhilarating grooves and the scent of the sea breeze blend together.
