The keyword is "harmony." The forest-surrounded landscape, the traditional building, and the modern interior – everything was beautiful!

Chihiro Moh-e of Ebisu's "Bar TRIAD," currently hosting the "MONKEY 47 Flight Tour" event until Monday, August 31, 2020. Moh-e was one of the participants who visited the Black Forest distillery in February of this year. In this article, we asked him for his candid impressions of the visit and the allure of "MONKEY 47."

A Craft Gin Where Tradition and Prestige Meet the Distiller's Unique Touch

"When I actually visited the distillery, the word 'beautiful' came to mind. The landscape where the Black Forest distillery building harmonized with nature immediately struck me, and I intuitively felt it was 'beautiful,'" says Moh-e of "Bar TRIAD."
It's no wonder. The design, utilizing traditional building materials, blends seamlessly with the surrounding scenery, making it hard to believe this is one of the world's leading distilleries.

"However, inside the building, modern equipment and interiors are designed, and through the windows, you can see the lush green scenery. It was like a single painting, and from the distillery's design philosophy, a high-dimensional harmony was evident," Moh-e explains.

When asked about the appeal of "MONKEY 47," Moh-e replied, "I believe it's harmony as well. The 47 types of herbs, spices, and fruits come together perfectly, and the moment you taste it, each element unfolds. I think this new experience is what defines 'MONKEY 47.'"
He continued,
"As a server, my personal impression is that 'MONKEY 47's' character can be showcased either on its own or when combined with various other elements. Given the diverse ingredients already present in this gin, it pairs well with spicy notes, sweetness, and fruitiness, allowing its individuality to stand out even in cocktails without being overshadowed," Moh-e shares.
Bar TRIAD is currently holding a MONKEY 47 Flight Tour event. This event allows guests to sample three different types of MONKEY 47. They also introduced three recommended cocktails made with MONKEY 47.
A classic cocktail featuring the vibrant sweet and sour notes of sloe gin and the nutty richness of whiskey. "Modern Cocktail No. 2" - ¥1450 (tax included).
"Modern Cocktail No. 2" is a traditional recipe found in the Savoy Hotel's recipe book.
Based on the Barrel Cut, which was limited released last year and aged in mulberry casks. The spiciness of MONKEY 47 stands out, yet it has a woody and smooth finish. "Monkey in the Barrel" - ¥2500 (tax included).

"Monkey in the Barrel" is an homage to the Vespa Martini served in the James Bond film series.
"Monkey Tonic" - ¥1300 (tax included) is a fragrant drink made by mixing dry gin with tonic water.
And the "Monkey Tonic" is a universally appealing drink that anyone will find delicious! The pink grapefruit is an ingredient used in "MONKEY 47" itself, and it's added to emphasize its presence. In addition to being visually eye-catching, it brings a refreshing impression to the taste.

Bar TRIAD
Take the direct elevator from the first floor to the fourth floor. Upon entering, you'll feel as if you've stepped into a train station, a nod to David Bowie's "Space Oddity." The bar, opened in 2017, embodies the idea of a place where people come and go, and always return, with a travel theme.
