A Maison of Unparalleled History
In the early 18th century, Dom Thierry Ruinart, a diligent and humble Benedictine monk, foresaw a brilliant future for Champagne, then simply referred to as "sparkling wine." His keen insight was eventually passed down to his nephew, Nicolas Ruinart.
The first "sparkling wine" was given as a gift to Nicolas's clients, who were textile merchants. Nicolas, a sophisticated businessman, inherited his uncle's groundbreaking vision and his passionate dedication to "sparkling wine." Within just six years, he had successfully established the Champagne business.
"In the name of God and the Virgin Mary, I open this book." On September 1, 1729, Nicolas Ruinart inscribed these words at the beginning of his journal. This marked the moment when the world's first Champagne house, "Ruinart," officially began its records.
Bliss Guided by Chardonnay
Ruinart, the world's oldest Champagne house, is also known for its unwavering commitment to the Chardonnay grape.
The Maison masterfully blends wines made exclusively from the highest quality grapes, perfectly expressing the "character of Chardonnay." The Champagne, born from long aging, possesses a delicate, elegant, and distinctive style. It clearly reveals the structure of Chardonnay from the Montagne de Reims and the elegance of the Côte des Blancs. Centuries of refined traditional methods have infused this radiant Champagne with finesse and complexity, earning it the title "the art of Chardonnay."
Ruinart Blanc de Blancs, made solely from Chardonnay, is the Maison's signature Champagne. Its elegant, refined, and pure taste, shimmering with a pale gold hue, will undoubtedly transport you to a world of grace.

The Special Underground Cellars That Foster Aging: The Crayères
Another factor contributing to the artistic finish of Ruinart Champagne is its unique underground cellars, the "crayères."
In 1768, the Maison acquired chalk quarries dating back to the Gallo-Roman era, located about 38 meters underground in Reims, a major center for Champagne production in northern France (also famous as the site of the Notre Dame Cathedral where French kings were consecrated). These were to be used as cellars for aging Champagne. The "crayères," with their stable temperature, complete absence of vibration, and optimal humidity, were designated a French Historical Monument in 1931 – the only Champagne house cellar to receive this distinction.
In these ideal underground cellars, where maturity and subtle light reign, Ruinart's Champagne continues to spend its time slowly aging.
With Timeless Art
Ruinart, a symbol of refinement. Born during an era when culture and art flourished, this Champagne has always been synonymous with timeless elegance. Its name spread from the French court across the globe, and it continues to captivate celebrities today. From the Congress of Vienna in 1814, the reception for the first flight of a new air route, to banquets at the Élysée Palace, the official residence of the French President, Ruinart has graced countless prestigious occasions.
It is truly a brand that embodies timeless elegance. In recent years, Ruinart has collaborated with numerous contemporary artists, continuing to inspire creatives and garnering attention as a brand that fosters artistic expression.
