A Masterpiece from a 200-Year-Old House
Founded in 1811, the venerable house of Perrier-Jouët has pursued an elegant style of Champagne for over two centuries. Its signature cuvée, "Belle Epoque," is a delicate blend primarily of Chardonnay, harmoniously balanced with Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
The anemone flowers adorning the bottle were designed by Émile Gallé, a master of Art Nouveau. This historical connection, celebrated not only for its taste but also for its artistic merit, has endeared it to royalty and nobility worldwide.
Choshokan (formerly the Murai Family Villa) is a landmark modern architectural masterpiece in Kyoto, built in 1909 as a villa for entrepreneur Kihyōe Murai, known as the "Tobacco King." Its design skillfully incorporates architectural styles from around the world. It was designated a Kyoto City Tangible Cultural Property in 1986 and a National Important Cultural Property in 2024.

Hotel Choshokan opened as a boutique hotel, featuring a restaurant, cafe, sweets boutique, and bar within Choshokan, along with six guest rooms in the adjacent new building.
"Belle Epoque" refers to the "beautiful era" in France from the late 19th to the early 20th century, a time when art and culture flourished. Choshokan, a modern building constructed during the Meiji era, is fittingly chosen as the venue, embodying the spirit of that "beautiful era" of Art Nouveau, reflecting the cultural sensibilities of its time.
This plan offers an 11-course full-course meal featuring Kyoto's seasonal ingredients from winter to early spring, to be enjoyed with the delicate bubbles of "Belle Epoque." The menu includes dishes like "Sea Bream Crustian" for the fish course and "Tanba Beef Chateaubriand" for the main, each designed to maximize the aroma and texture of the ingredients.

The interior retains numerous Art Nouveau details, offering a luxurious experience in a private room within the Western-style building, where guests can savor the effervescence of Champagne amidst an ambiance imbued with the aesthetic sensibilities of a bygone era.
This special experience, weaving together the historic architectural space, Perrier-Jouët, and Kyoto's finest ingredients, offers a compelling reason to visit Kyoto during winter. It promises a moment that will enrich all the senses.
