A Light, Lemon Sour-Like Mouthfeel Expressing Beer's New Charm

"Brooklyn Bel Air Sour," a sour beer with a light acidity from Brooklyn Brewery, a craft beer maker in Brooklyn—a hub of New York culture—is now available at restaurants nationwide. "Brooklyn Bel Air Sour" is a sour beer with a tropical fruit-like aroma and a light, lemon sour-like mouthfeel, allowing you to experience the new charm of beer.
Sour beer is a crisp, tart beer made by fermenting with lactic acid bacteria to bring out a natural acidity. It's a new beer style inspired by Lambic, a traditional European beer style fermented with wild yeast, but using lactic acid bacteria instead of wild yeast.

While still an unfamiliar genre in Japan, sour beer is already popular among many in the U.S., where it is the fastest-growing beer style (Source: Information Resources, Inc. | Period: Jan 2019 - Jan 2020, Region: USA, excluding U.S. domestic packaged and limited items). Furthermore, "Brooklyn Bel Air Sour" is the number one popular sour beer in New York (Source: Information Resources, Inc. | Period: Jan 2019 - Jan 2020, Region: USA).
Garrett Oliver, Brooklyn Brewery
Garrett Oliver, Brewmaster at Brooklyn Brewery, commented, "The popularity of sour beers in the U.S. and around the world may be influenced by our childhoods, drinking beverages like lemonade. Just as we enjoy a variety of drinks like white wine, champagne, and margaritas, enjoying the acidity in beer is not at all unusual. While sour beers might be unfamiliar in Japan, Japan is famous for its wonderful cocktail culture and also uses vinegar frequently in its cuisine, so I feel Japanese people have a higher tolerance for acidity than Americans."
"Brooklyn Bel Air Sour" is also available for purchase on Kirin's online shop, "DRINX."
