EAT | A One-Day Premium Dining Event

"C.F.S.A." – an unprecedented full-content dining experience, orchestrating supreme cuisine, exceptional music, and captivating performances!

In an era where new lifestyles are being explored under the "new normal," a premium, one-day-only dining event is set to take place, leading the way. It's called "C.F.S.A." (Comptoir Feu Sato Ayumu). "Comptoir Feu" (pronounced 'Kontowaru Fu'), a restaurant so popular it's become an urban legend, is fully reservation-only, with its address and phone number kept private. Despite a price point of ¥70,000-¥80,000 per person, reservations are booked a year in advance. This is a rare pop-up restaurant project welcoming Ayumu Sato, the owner-chef of this highly sought-after "phantom" establishment, to Shibuya, Tokyo. The event is organized by Yuki Kiyiyama, the producer of "Sushi & Champagne Night," which became legendary for continuously breaking banquet sales records at five-star hotels. Ahead of the event, we sat down with Kiyiyama for an exclusive interview about its concept.
Seats are available through a lottery system, exclusively for OPENERS readers.

The Premium Dining Event "C.F.S.A." on March 21st (Sunday): What is it?

"This isn't just about 'eating and finishing.' We're hybridizing music and performance to create a content-rich experience, with thorough COVID-19 measures, delivering an unprecedented culinary journey."
Producer Yuki Kiyiyama expressed his enthusiasm for "C.F.S.A." (Comptoir Feu Sato Ayumu) with these words. From 2017 to 2019, he served as the General Manager for "EDC/Electric Daisy Carnival," the world's largest electronic dance music event based in Las Vegas, USA, bringing it to Chiba's Makuhari Messe and Stadium, attracting over 250,000 attendees. With a 25-year career as a professional DJ himself, Kiyiyama's vision is for a new world of gastronomy that should be realized precisely in 2020.
Yuki Kiyiyama. CEO of Hybrid Consulting Inc. He currently serves on advisory boards and as an external director/consultant for a wide range of companies, from listed corporations to startups. His business activities encompass organizational and HR consulting, digital marketing, and event/brand production. He has authored 33 books, including co-authored works. As General Manager for EDC Japan, he attracted over 250,000 attendees. As an Officier of the Ordre des Coteaux de Champagne, he is dedicated to promoting Champagne, with numerous achievements as a related event producer.
"Currently, amidst the pandemic, there's talk of adapting to a 'new normal' lifestyle. But how do we concretely integrate this into our lives? I felt it was important to 'new normal-ize' the dining and events that people have traditionally enjoyed."
Ayumu Sato, Chef of "Comptoir Feu"
Chef Ayumu Sato, with whom Kiyiyama had a prior relationship, resonated with Kiyiyama's vision. "Comptoir Feu" in Kitashinchi, Osaka, where Sato serves as owner-chef, is an ultra-popular restaurant offering sublime cuisine using premium ingredients without restraint. Despite being fully reservation-only, with a private address and phone number, and a price point of ¥70,000-¥80,000 per person, reservations are booked a year in advance. It has received the Tabelog Gold Award and maintains a top-tier rating of 4.67. However, with only nine seats and Sato operating solo, even handling wine service himself, few are fortunate enough to secure a reservation.
"Comptoir Feu" offers a unique experience where you can simultaneously enjoy Chef Sato's extraordinary cuisine and a relaxed atmosphere, as if visiting the chef's home. For this event, themed around the 'new normal' and considering the current COVID-19 situation, we are planning a series of pop-up events across Japan. The first installment will unfold at "CÉ LA VI TOKYO" in Shibuya, Tokyo, a space symbolizing the area's redevelopment, where we will present new creations."
"CÉ LA VI TOKYO" is a restaurant located on the 17th and 18th floors of Tokyu Plaza Shibuya, featuring an open deck. Situated in the heart of Tokyo, it offers a commanding view of Shibuya and has become a popular sophisticated social hub, blending music and cuisine. This "C.F.S.A." event leverages this unique location, utilizing two floors – the dining floor and the sky deck floor – to accommodate social distancing.
Chef Sato is also known for his unconventional and flexible culinary style, which is rooted in French technique. While he uses premium ingredients, he prepares them with his signature approach, focusing on their essence. On the other hand, "CÉ LA VI TOKYO" embraces a modern Asian theme. Therefore, for this event, we can anticipate Chef Sato's unique take on Asian cuisine.
"Chef Sato himself believes there are dishes that can only be created here. Recently, when I imagined what he might make with lobster, it turned out to be ramen (laughs). Also, the chefs from "CÉ LA VI TOKYO" are scheduled to support us in the kitchen on the day. Therefore, I believe you'll be able to experience the spontaneous live energy that arises from the collaboration between these restaurants."
For drinks at "C.F.S.A.," MHD Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton is supporting with the "Dom Pérignon" brand. Furthermore, a surprise performance is planned as a special treat for the day. A special dining experience combining music and food is highly anticipated.
"In addition to pairings, we plan to offer a diverse range of bottles. From those you can enjoy by the glass to grand vintages, we are preparing to cater to everyone's mood on the day."
On Sunday, March 21st, there will be 30 seats available for both lunch and dinner. Guests can not only enjoy the course meal while seated but also move to the terrace with a DJ booth after their meal for dessert, or enjoy aperitifs while taking in the ambiance of the sky deck... The experience will connect from day, through dusk, and into the night. The charm of "C.F.S.A." lies in its ability for guests to discover their own way of enjoying the event.
