Original Cocktails Featuring Kinobi Cask-Aged Kyoto Dry Gin, a Collaboration to Celebrate Our 5th Anniversary

To commemorate its 5th anniversary, Andaz Tokyo has collaborated with Kyoto Distillery, Japan's first gin specialty distillery, to create the original craft gin, "Kinobi Cask-Aged Kyoto Dry Gin." For a limited time until Saturday, August 31, 2019, special cocktails made with this original craft gin will be served at the 52nd-floor Rooftop Bar.

A Blend of Sherry Cask Gin Aged 25 Years and Mizunara New Oak Cask Gin

Andaz Tokyo, with its brand concept of "delivering the charm of the region (Japan) through creative experiences," has reached its 5th anniversary. To celebrate this milestone, a collaboration with Kyoto Distillery, known for its focus on carefully selected Japanese ingredients, has been realized.
Among the gins produced by Kyoto Distillery, "Ki No Bi" stands out as the highest quality craft gin. Based on a mild rice spirit, it features a unique production method where 11 types of botanicals, primarily from Kyoto such as green tea and yuzu, are steeped and extracted in six groups—"Base (Ki)," "Citrus (No)," "Tea (Bi)," "Spice (Kara)," "Fruity & Floral (Ho)," and "Herbal (Rin)"—before being blended after distillation.
For this collaboration, "Ki No Bi" was aged and blended in two specially selected casks, resulting in the creation of "Kinobi Cask-Aged Kyoto Dry Gin," a first for Kyoto Distillery.
Kyoto Distillery's Head Distiller, Alex Davies, selected the two types of casks with the image of "Toranomon, where the regionality—a harmonious blend of a wonderful past and a modern cityscape—is embodied." One is a sherry cask that was used to age 25-year-old軽井沢 single malt whisky, and the other is a new Japanese Mizunara oak cask. The gin was aged for six months, allowing for the optimal period to enjoy the original charm of "Ki No Bi" craft gin while appreciating the aromas and flavors from each cask.
The blending also adds complexity, with the rich, fragrant, and fruity notes characteristic of sherry casks harmonizing with the spicy and elegant aroma of the Mizunara new oak, creating a complex and profound scent and taste.
These special cocktails made with the original craft gin, "Kinobi," are available at Andaz Tokyo's 52nd-floor "Rooftop Bar." Guests can enjoy refreshing cocktails perfect for the summer season, such as the "Signature Gin & Tonic" made with Hyuganatsu, and the "Gin Martini Set" featuring a martini and a peach martini.
