Bombay Sapphire's New 'Home,' Harmonizing History and Nature
Bombay Sapphire, a premium gin produced based on an original recipe developed in 1761.

Located in Hampshire, Southwest England, approximately 100km from London, a historic building that for 200 years manufactured high-quality paper for Bank of England banknotes has been renovated this summer into a distillery equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. It has been open to the public since October 1st.

The design of this "Laverstoke Mill Distillery" was handled by renowned London designer Thomas Heatherwick and his team at Heatherwick Studio. Following a major restoration costing several million pounds, the facility has been beautifully revived as a space where rich nature and the building's history harmonize.

The distillery, established on a vast space of approximately 2 hectares, showcases more than just the Bombay Sapphire production process centered around the historic Dakin stills.

Within the grounds, a botanical garden replicates the humid climate of tropical regions and the dry climate of the Mediterranean. Visitors can see the cultivation of the 10 botanicals—including almonds, cinnamon, lemon peel, and coriander—carefully selected from around the world, which are essential to Bombay Sapphire's unique flavor.

Additionally, there is an area to learn about the history of Laverstoke Mill, and a bar where visitors can enjoy Bombay Sapphire cocktails. Master classes for training the world's top bartenders are also offered, making it a "home" where one can fully experience the world of Bombay Sapphire.
