A Croatian Breakfast Appears: A Look at Southeast Europe's Rising Star

At World Breakfast All Day in Gaienmae, Tokyo, the theme is "Discover the world through breakfast," offering morning meals from various countries. This month and October, the spotlight is on Croatia, a nation also gaining attention as a resort destination.

A Taste of Traditional Croatian Breakfast on One Plate!

Croatia, a Southeast European country facing the Adriatic Sea, is now experiencing political and economic stability. It's also known as a scenic resort destination, famously serving as the backdrop for Hayao Miyazaki's films "Kiki's Delivery Service" and "Porco Rosso."

This month and October, World Breakfast All Day offers a traditional Croatian breakfast plate for ¥1600. A highlight is Soparnik, a signature dish from the southern Dalmatian region along the Adriatic coast. This pie, filled with chard—a popular vegetable in Croatia—is said to be the precursor to Italian pizza.

Also featured is Čevapčići, a dish of lamb and pork often enjoyed as a late breakfast called Marenda, served with rich cream. Jganjci, a simple cornmeal dish, is also on the menu, seasoned with Croatian truffle salt and accompanied by autumn vegetables like squash tossed with Mediterranean olive oil.

In addition to this plate, traditional dessert Kremšnita and the cafe's special elderflower herbal tea are available. Cooking classes and workshops related to Croatia are also planned during this period.
