NY's Magnolia Bakery Opens Its First Japanese Location

A Parade of Colorful, Cute Confections

Magnolia Bakery opened its first store in New York's West Village in July 1996. Since 2007, the current owners, the Abrams family, have managed the brand with a commitment to its core philosophy.

The iconic dessert that catapulted this bakery to stardom is, without a doubt, the cupcake. Characterized by its whimsical swirls of pastel-colored homemade frosting, it became a massive hit after appearing in the popular drama "Sex and the City." Today, it's practically synonymous with New York cupcakes, drawing visitors from all over the world.

The interior of "Magnolia Bakery Omotesando," the brand's first store in Asia, evokes a cozy, domestic atmosphere with its display of vintage kitchenware. Beyond its signature cupcakes, the most popular item, the bakery offers a rich selection including brownies, cheesecakes, and banana pudding. From a menu of 150 varieties, over 40 different sweets will be available daily on a rotating basis.
All sweets are baked in the in-house kitchen. Visitors can also witness skilled staff decorating with icing (frosting) right before their eyes at the in-store icing station. Why not try a taste that has brought smiles to New Yorkers?
