From "SAKE 100" to "SAKE HUNDRED"
"SAKE 100" (pronounced Sake Hundred), a premium sake brand, was founded in 2018.
The company crafts sake with the theme, "A bottle to be proud of for 100 years." All sake in their lineup is developed in collaboration with breweries possessing the highest level of brewing technology.
They meticulously prioritize quality in product storage and delivery, ensuring all items are shipped directly from the brewery.
That "SAKE 100" has now embarked on a new journey, rebranded as "SAKE HUNDRED."
This rebranding aims to further pursue the aforementioned theme and brand purpose, "To enrich the soul and color life," while pioneering a global luxury scene for sake.
The rebranding involved a complete overhaul of the logo, label design, brand website, product lineup, and pricing.
The logo mark expresses the desire to be a "straightforward, dignified, and classic brand," embodying the craftsmanship of a brand that makes its living through creation, and the prestige of a top-tier sake brand.
The logotype is built upon a font modeled after carved lettering. It blends a refined, modern design with Japanese aesthetics and the spirit of artisanal craftsmanship.
The new labels are inspired by "polished rice," the raw ingredient of sake, and feature a "diamond" shape, a traditional Japanese auspicious pattern. "White," the color of rice and representing the clarity of sake, has been adopted as the brand's key color.
The lineup consists of the following four types.
Byakko BYAKKO
Price: ¥27,500
"Byakko" is a sake pursuing "excellence" in the world of Japanese sake. Through the highest level of brewing technology, it achieves a clear taste free of any impurities, an elegant aroma, and a beautifully lingering finish, making it the flagship of SAKE HUNDRED. It envelops all who taste it in a sense of bliss, offering a supreme sake experience.
Amairo AMAIRO
Price: ¥15,400
This is a dessert sake with a distinctively rich flavor that challenges the conventional notion that "sake is meant to be enjoyed with meals." Brewed using sake itself as an ingredient, it achieves a surprisingly rich and sweet taste with complex layers of sweetness, acidity, and umami, unlike any conventional sake.
Shirin SHIRIN
Price: ¥41,800
This is a genshu (undiluted sake) with a 18% rice polishing ratio, finished with a clear taste and aged in Japanese oak (Mizunara) barrels. The subtle yet distinct oak aroma is infused into the sake. It opens a new door for sake, reminiscent of a serene, crisp forest.
Gengai GENGAI
Price: ¥165,000
Aged for over 20 years, the sweetness, acidity, bitterness, and umami complexly intertwine in perfect harmony at a high level. The taste, achieved beyond human ingenuity, evokes a mature elegance. This bottle, having overcome great disasters and marked by the passage of time, holds the potential of vintage sake.
SAKE HUNDRED Brand Owner Ryushi Ikoma comments as follows:
"Since the brand's inception in 2018, we have consistently offered value unbound by the conventions and customs of the sake industry. Believing in the potential of sake and expressing its charm to the fullest, we aim to deliver emotional value to our customers, beyond mere "deliciousness." It is with this aspiration that we undertook this rebranding. A challenge into a world no one has seen before begins now. Please look forward to the new SAKE HUNDRED."
SAKE HUNDRED is currently pursuing its goal of global expansion within fiscal year 2020. They will continue to propose the value that sake brings—satisfaction that is physical, spiritual, and social.
