Limited Edition "Hitokuchi Kashi" Released by minä perhonen



HIGASHIYA, a Japanese confectioner celebrating its 10th anniversary with collaborations with various creators. As the second installment, a special edition "Hitokuchi Kashi" by fashion brand "minä perhonen" is available for a limited time until Sunday, October 6th.

A fusion of ideas beyond the realm of Japanese confections and the skill of confectioners

HIGASHIYA, a small Japanese confectioner founded in 2003, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, the shop is undertaking a collaboration project with a total of four creators active in various fields. Focusing on the shop's signature "Hitokuchi Kashi" (bite-sized sweets), limited edition versions are being created to explore the further possibilities of Japanese confections.

Following the first installment, "Ichigo Ichie" by artist Mai Miyake, the second installment features "Sweets Like Wildflowers" by Akira Minagawa, designer for the fashion brand minä perhonen.

Using "wildflowers," a motif frequently incorporated into the brand's collections, three types of bean paste are layered to create sweets with distinct colors and flavors. The result is a finish characteristic of minä perhonen, known for its original textiles, each imbued with its own story.

The packaging features an embossed design representing the silhouette of six sweets. When the yellow ribbon is untied, lovely flowers appear, as if watched over by butterflies. Named "Sweets Like Wildflowers" from the desire to create a confection that one would gently reach for, as if picking nameless flowers found while walking through a field.

These new "Hitokuchi Kashi" are a fusion of ideas that transcend the boundaries of Japanese confections, born from creators active in different fields, and the artisanal skill of HIGASHIYA's confectioners. The creators for the third and fourth installments will be announced in mid-September, so anticipation is high for those as well.
