Japan-Exclusive Flavors: Matcha, Azuki, and Almond Jelly
Founded in 1979 by gelato artisan Franco Pravettoni, Gelateria Marghera is a venerable institution. As a pioneer in the gelato shop scene, it continues to offer beloved gelato to Milanese locals, adhering to traditional methods with fresh ingredients even after 34 years.
On busy days, over 3,000 customers visit, creating what's known as 'Marghera traffic jams' outside the shop on weekends. Its popularity is such that a university professor once presented research on it as 'the most space-efficient store'.
The Azabu-Juban branch, a street-level store with a terrace, has opened along the Azabu-Juban shopping street, offering an extensive takeout menu to bring the essence of Milanese culinary culture. Equipped with the same display cases and gelato machines as the Milan flagship, it serves freshly made gelato just like its counterpart. With opening hours until 10 PM, it's also a delightful option to conclude your dinner.

The menu features 36 gelato flavors, including Japan-exclusive Matcha, Azuki, and Almond Jelly. Additionally, they offer 'Dolce Cena' (parfaits) made with gelato and seasonal fruits, and 'Biscotti,' a sophisticated take on ice cream sandwiches with gelato between biscuits. You can enjoy the same menu as the Milan flagship store right here in Japan.
Gelateria Marghera offers a taste of the Italian lifestyle, where daily life is cherished, through its gelato. Expect 'Marghera traffic jams' to become a common sight in Japan as well, so we recommend checking it out early.
