The Krug Bamboo Bottle Cooler Set, born from the encounter between Krug, a prestigious Champagne house, and Japan's traditional culture, will be released in limited quantities starting February 20 (Wednesday) at major department stores in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka.

The Outer Shell Evokes a Dewdrop Dripping from a Grape




This project began in 2011 with Krug, a maison that pursues ultimate pleasure through unparalleled craftsmanship, aiming to create the "ultimate bottle cooler" using traditional Japanese crafts. This time, a collaboration has been realized with "Take mata," a bamboo workshop that has inherited its techniques and spirit in Kyoto since the Heian period, and "Nousaku," which conveys the charm of Takaoka copperware to the present day through cross-disciplinary craftsmanship. A bottle cooler with a new sensibility, woven from the skills and aesthetics of artisans, has been born.

The design was handled by space composerJunji TanigawaMr. Tanigawa. The bamboo outer shell features a "deardrop" design, inspired by a fresh drop of liquid falling from a grape. Bamboo, a quintessential Japanese element, is said to evoke the wind blowing through the vineyards and the scent of the earth, symbolizing the harmony between nature and humanity.

The cast metal inner part is a simple void shape. Both the fully mirrored exterior finish and the gold leaf interior lining showcase the pinnacle of handiwork achievable only by skilled artisans, allowing artistic creation backed by traditional techniques to blossom.
