Morocco's Diverse Culture Reflected in its Cuisine?
Morocco lies in the northwest of the African continent. Unlike the Sahara Desert to the south, its major cities like Casablanca are concentrated in the north, facing the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, enjoying a mild climate year-round. The indigenous Berber culture has been influenced by Islamic teachings, and its period as a French colony in the early 20th century has further blended European influences, resulting in a rich and diverse culture.
Popular breakfast items in Morocco include 'Msemen,' a square-shaped crepe, and 'Baghrir,' a type of pancake. Both are made with semolina flour, the same ingredient used for pasta, and are traditionally served with generous amounts of butter and honey.
This special offering features a one-plate menu (¥1500, excluding tax) combining these two items with 'Berber Omelette,' a tomato-based dish often prepared in a tagine, and a Moroccan salad rich with Italian parsley and coriander. Drinks, including mint tea—a staple consumed multiple times a day in Morocco—and sweet desserts will also be available.
During this period, cooking classes and workshops on Moroccan food culture are also planned. Those interested are encouraged to check the official website for details.
